Windows

Compatible with a large range of computers, running Windows 7 or higher.
AMD64 binaries require a minimum cpu architecture of Nehalem (Intel) or Jaguar (AMD)
Users of older processors may have to compile their own builds from source code.

It is preferred that Linux users compile from source code - this results in a binary that is optimised for your specific hardware configuration.
We don't provide official Linux binaries ourselves, we link to known good third-party packages here.

macOS

These binaries require macOS 10.15 (Catalina).
ares ships as Universal Binaries which run natively on both Intel and Apple Silicon.

We do not provide an official FreeBSD package however ares is available in the FreeBSD Ports Collection.
